SAWA Blog 44: SAWA is Bringing Together a Community that is Changing the World

Our imaginings on what is possible in this world are being brightened all the time by the stories of hope coming from SAWA Heroes all over the world. From heroes like Selemen who is uplifting the youth in Rwanda by teaching them employable skills and creating for them a caring, supportive community; to heroes like Nadia whose leadership and initiatives have improved the lives of 10,000 people in her home country Vanuatu; and heroes like Dr. Robert whose medical clinic in Uganda is helping thousands with HIV/AIDS. Faced with so much poverty, the successes of these heroes’ projects are especially remarkable.
SAWA is grateful to have been able to soak in the spirit of these inspirational heroes and learn from their leadership while they were here in Vancouver forming new partnerships and attending workshops. SAWA is proud to have been able to connect the heroes with people who will help them increase the impact of their projects. It is, in our eyes, the best and most meaningful way to make a difference – to support those who are already improving the lives of so many people in their communities by connecting them to other amazing people and organizations. What is particularly special about this process is not only the potential for a greater positive impact, but the human connection that is fostered through this networking process. It becomes more and more clear that we are bringing together a community here that is changing the world for the better. And as we connect and learn from each other, this mutual inspiration becomes multiplied through sharing ideas, resources, help, leadership, innovation and ingenuity.
It was an honour to connect with these remarkable individuals, and we are all the better for it. To pass on hope and inspiration is such a beautiful thing.
